Data#3 to rock Blitz

Staff from Toowong-based business Data#3 will toss aside their suits and ties and pick up their instrument of choice to battle it out at this year’s Queensland charity rock concert of the year – Conrad Treasury Boardroom Blitz 2008.

Data#3 have entered a band in the charity concert that turns everyday workers into rockstars to benefit the Cerebral Palsy League of Queensland (CPLQ) when the annual event is held on Saturday 11 October.

Boardroom Blitz involves Brisbane companies and organisations forming a band and competing at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre, all in the name of charity.

This includes D-Troup, which is the corporate rock band formed by Data#3, including General Manager Michael Browser on guitar and Marketing General Manager Mark Phillips as lead singer.

A photo opportunity will be available with Michael and Mark in Toowong this Monday 29 September, as they belt out a ballad on Data#3’s boardroom table.

With bands from Data#3, Conrad Treasury, Panther Print, SuperCheap Auto, Laing O’Rourke, Parsons Brinkerhoff, the CPLQ and more competing to this year’s theme “The Sixties”, Boardroom Blitz promises to be bigger than ever.

All funds raised from Boardroom Blitz go to the CPLQ, which provides services and support to Queenslanders with cerebral palsy, which is the most common physical disability in Queensland children.

In true celebrity style, corporate rockers will arrive at the Entertainment Centre in limousines and walk the red carpet under the roving spotlights, before performing live in front of a 1,000-plus audience.

This year’s preparations have been hitting full swing with less than two weeks to go, organisers and bands are furiously preparing before the big gig.

“The competition is sure to really heat up this year as all bands have the chance to win their own film clip and music CD produced,” said the CPLQ’s Marketing and Development Manager, Rosalie Cunningham.

“We’ve had an outstanding response from our corporate bands and sponsors and are looking forward to our most successful fundraising year to date.

“Stall seats and limited corporate tables are still available and Brisbane residents should not miss out on this rock concert extravaganza,” she said.

Boardroom Blitz will feature an auction on the night, including experiences that money can’t buy, such as a walk-on role on a Channel 10 program and a Channel 7 tour and package to the Australia Open.

Now in its sixth year, Boardroom Blitz is aiming to raise more than $100,000 for the CPLQ.

Tickets to stadium seats at Conrad Treasury Boardroom Blitz are on sale through Ticketek or to make a table reservation, phone 1800 819 086.
